Scratches on teak wood table?
I have a beautiful, fairly new teak wood table. When I left the table for a moment, my daughter used her fork to 'draw' a picture on the table. Needless to say, there are very deep scratches. Is there a way to remove the scraches and return the table to its original condition, or is her artwook forever preserved on the table? Help!!
The table is a Skovby DC04. I bought it from a consignment store, but I see it retails for about $2300. The table is HEAVY . . . but I don't know whether it is solid teak wood or veneer overlay. How would I determine this? I looked at the underside of the table and it looks the same as the top, but not finished.

when you say the scratches are deep, do you mean really deep or noticeably deep? Also, how many scratches are there? I would venture to say the table is probably solid teak. If they're aren't too many scrqtches you mqy try finding a wood-working store like wood-zone or someplace that sells the wax for filling wood damage. You could find a wax cube that resembles the color of the teak. Then, rub it over the scrtaches. If you rub with a bit of pressure, the wax will be desposited into the scratches. Then, use a clean lint-free cloth and rub perpendicular to the scratches. The idea is to remove the wax outise of the scratched areas. If you rub the lengthof the scratch, it may remove the wax from the scratch. Anyway, once you've removed the wax from around the area, use another clean rag and buff out the area like you applied a paste wax. It should sine up and match the sheen of the table.
The method is contingent upon the table not having too many scratches and them not being very deep. There are some other methods that could repair the table, but without further details, I may not be giving you good advice. If you have further qustions or information, just shoot me an email.
