What are my chances of being pregnant?
I just had a little boy who's 9 weeks old. At my six week postpartum checkup the doctor gave me Micronor (since I breastfeed) to take for a month until I could be fitted for my IUD. I started the pill that day and OF COURSE my husband was ready to get back in the groove that night. Now the doctor said I should use condoms for two weeks to get my birth control established but my husband refused and just decided to use the trusty "pull out method." From that day we resumed normal activity and he didn't pull out or use a condom anymore after that first day. I have been worrying to death that I could be pregnant again. What do you think?
I worked in an OB office for 10 years, and I can tell you that pregnancy is ALWAYS a possibility when you are sexually active, but you are LESS likely to become pregnant since you are taking the Micronor. Please do not rely on the breastfeeding as birth control...I have seen too many women get pregnant this way!!! It is true that after having a baby, your wacky hormones can make ovulation extremely unpredictable resulting in increased fertility. I would STRONGLY suggest that you use condoms for the 1st month on the Micronor and decrease the chances. Good Luck!!!
